WOOD cabel rail
Cable Rail > Wood
Silvestri’s Aspetuck style is our most contemporary cable rail style using all wood members (post & rails). It utilizes a level, clean line along the top using a continuous linear top rail to maintain a clean look.
Typically 4″x4″ size posts are used with with either 2″x4″ or 1″x4″ bracing between the posts so when tension is put on the posts by tightening the cables the post will not bend or bow. Then place above the brace rail with either 4″ or 6″ cap board. Post spacing is recommended at 7′ with a thin 1/4″ wide stainless steel cable brace in between to better hold the cable in place. Wood species used are cedar, mahogany and ipe.
As you will see in the portfolio there are variations with in Aspetuck style but all make for a stunning look using our cable rail.
Silvestri’s Saugatuck style is combines a more classic feel while still having the slick, clean look that cable rail can give your home. While using all wood members (post & rails) the Saugatuck brings in a traditional element of having the posts extend above the top rail and adding a New England post cap to the top of the post. The single hand rail acts as a brace and maintains a low profile.
Post spacing is recommended at 7′ with a thin 1/4″ wide stainless steel cable brace in between to better hold the cable in place.
